Lure-making classes · Ipoh studio
Our classes are the cheapest way to own a stack of good lures: learn once, then make them at home for around RM 10–15 each. Small groups, real tools, and you leave with a lure that actually swims.
Upcoming dates
Eight seats per class at most. A 30% deposit via FPX or DuitNow holds your seat; the balance is paid on the day.

The fine print, in plain words
Never more than six students per instructor, and never more than eight students in the room. For the masterclass the cap is six in total.
Students must be 12 or older. Anyone aged 12 to 15 must come with a parent or guardian who stays in the studio for the whole class; the adult can join as a paying student or sit in for free. Under-12s are welcome to watch with their parents at Open Bench Wednesdays.
You get a morphosremodelaciones.com studio certificate listing the class and techniques covered. It's our own certificate, not a government qualification, but plenty of club members pin it next to their first lure.
Groups of six or more pay RM 130 per person for First Lure Saturday on a private date. Angling clubs and secondary schools can book weekday sessions; we can also bring a portable bench to your venue in the Kinta valley for a RM 150 travel fee.
Move your seat for free up to 48 hours before class. Cancel more than seven days ahead and we refund your deposit in full; after that we hold it as credit for any class or lure within six months.
Closed shoes and clothes you don't mind getting paint on. We supply aprons, dust masks, safety glasses and nitrile gloves.
The studio
Lim Wei Han started carving lures in 2009 in his parents' kitchen in Menglembu, mostly because he kept losing expensive imported minnows on the snags of Sungai Kinta. By 2016 friends were paying him for lures, and by 2017 he'd taken a shophouse unit in Taman Menglembu Jaya and registered morphosremodelaciones.com.
Nurul joined in 2018 to handle painting, and the first Saturday class ran that December with four students and one borrowed table. Ganesh arrived in 2020 with the soft-plastic moulds, and Jessica took over the counter and dispatch in 2022.
The idea has never changed: good lures shouldn't cost a day's wages, and the skills to make them shouldn't be a secret. That's why our classes are priced to pay back after you make roughly ten lures at home, and why we sell blank packs and paint kits at close to cost.
We also care about the water. We push barbless singles for catch & release fishing, we teach kids to wet their hands before touching a fish, and we never encourage moving fish such as peacock bass from one pond to another.
Student stories
Unedited apart from length. Ratings are what each person gave us on the feedback card.
My jelutong minnow came out a bit lopsided, Nurul said it would still swim. Two weeks later it pulled a 1.2 kg sebarau out of Sungai Kinta. I've booked the masterclass.
Ganesh explains temperatures like a chemistry teacher, which is exactly what I needed. Bought the shrimp mould kit after; I've poured around 40 udang for less than the price of two packs.
Three toman in one morning on the frog, all released. The weedless double actually comes through lily pads. Paint got chewed and the RM 12 repaint looks new.
Took my 13-year-old. The 1:6 ratio is real; someone was always next to her with the knife. She now refuses to fish with any lure she didn't paint herself.
Ordered the kit to Sarawak, RM 15 shipping, arrived in five working days. The step card is clear enough that I finished both minnows over two weekends.
School-holiday sessions in December usually fill three weeks ahead. WhatsApp the class name and date you want and we'll send a deposit link.
