Lure studio · Ipoh, Perak · since 2017
We carve, paint and test every lure on a small bench under the Menglembu hills. No distributor markup, no brand tax, just honest wood, wire and epoxy at prices that make sense for weekend anglers. Prefer to make your own? We'll teach you, abang.
Fresh off the drying rack
These are the ones Jessica restocks every week. All handmade here, all under RM 70, and every one has caught fish within an hour's drive of the studio before it went on sale.
Floating jerkbait for ex-mining lakes. Twitch, pause, let it rise; peacock bass usually hit on the pause.
Slow-sinking minnow that darts sideways on a sharp twitch. Our most-sold river lure since 2019.
Wooden frog with a weedless double hook, built for toman lying under kangkung and lily pads.
Hand-hammered brass spoon, polished on one face and painted on the other. Cheap, tough, catches everything.
Hand-poured, salt-infused shrimp. Hop it slowly along mangrove roots and jetty pilings.
Two pre-shaped jelutong blanks, through-wire, lips, eyes, sandpaper and our printed step card.
Tray 01 · How it works
No cart, no account, no checkout page that crashes. Ordering works the way most Malaysian anglers already shop: a chat.
Browse the catalogue or take the 30-second lure picker quiz. Not sure? Send us a photo of your spot and the species you want.
Tap "Add to WhatsApp list" on each lure. The site writes the message for you, with SKUs, quantities and the subtotal.
We confirm stock and delivery, then send a DuitNow QR or FPX link. Pickup orders can pay cash or card at the counter.
Self-pickup in Ipoh, or courier dispatch the next working day. Peninsular RM 8, Sabah and Sarawak RM 15, free above a threshold.
Tray 02 · Numbers

Tray 03 · Seasonal calendar
A typical year around Perak and the big northern reservoirs, based on our customers' catch reports and our own trips. Weather, water levels and the northeast monsoon shift things every year, so treat this as a rough guide, not a promise.

Studio tip: pre-orders spike before the March–May peak and in the year-end school holidays. If you need a specific colour for a trip, WhatsApp us three weeks ahead and we'll slot it into a paint batch.
Tray 04 · Payment methods
Text badges only, no fuss. Classes take a 30% deposit to hold your seat; lures are paid in full before dispatch.
We don't offer cash on delivery. Every order gets a written WhatsApp confirmation with the item list, total and delivery method before you pay, so there are no surprises. Receipts are sent as PDF on request for club or company claims.

Tray 06 · Store counter & workshop corner
The studio is a converted shophouse unit in Taman Menglembu Jaya. Front half is the shop counter, back half is the workshop, and the kettle is always on.
Every lure in the catalogue hangs on pegboard behind the counter, so you can feel the weight and check the colours under daylight before you pay.
Lures with a paint run, a crooked eye or a slightly off-centre lip. They swim fine. Budget anglers clear this bin every Saturday.
Leave your chewed lures in the tray; we strip, repaint and re-epoxy them for RM 12 each, ready in about ten days.
20:00–22:30, RM 10 bench fee. Bring your half-finished project, use our tools, ask Lim questions. Teh tarik not included, but the mamak is next door.
Parking is right in front of the shophouse row, free after 18:00 and on Sundays. The counter accepts all payment methods listed above, and if you're picking up a WhatsApp order, just tell Jessica your name and the last four digits of your phone number.
Fridays we close from 12:30 to 14:45 for Friday prayers. Mondays we're closed so the paint can cure and the team can actually go fishing.
Tray 07 · Key advantages
Budget-smart doesn't mean cheap and nasty. It means we cut the costs you shouldn't be paying for in the first place.
We sell from our own bench. No importer, no distributor, no shop margin stacked three times on top of a lure.
Kiln-dried Malaysian jelutong, tuned and tank-tested for Perak rivers and lakes rather than Japanese or American bass ponds.
Through-wire construction, so a toman can't rip the hook hanger out. When the paint wears off, a RM 12 repaint beats buying new.
Our kits and blank packs bring the cost per lure down to around RM 10–15 if you're willing to sand on weekends.
RM 8 flat across the Peninsula and RM 15 to Sabah, Sarawak and Labuan, with free delivery above RM 150 and RM 250.
Your WhatsApp goes to Jessica or Lim, not a bot. Ask about colours, rigging or which lure suits your budget.
Tray 08 · The team
Every lure passes through at least three of these pairs of hands before it reaches yours.
Ex-draughtsman from Menglembu who started whittling sebarau lures in 2009 because imported ones kept dying on Sungai Kinta snags. Designs every body shape and tests each prototype himself.
Trained in graphic design in Shah Alam, now runs the paint bench. If your lure has a scale pattern that looks real, that's Nurul. Patient teacher, strict about masks.
Pours every soft plastic we sell and leads the Friday pour nights. Former lab tech, so expect proper temperatures and zero guesswork.
From Sri Aman, Sarawak. Packs every parcel, answers most WhatsApps and knows exactly what ships cheapest to Borneo.
Tray 09 · Gear rental sets
Some tools only make sense if you use them every week. For everything else, borrow ours.
Carving knife, two rasps, round-nose pliers and our through-wire bending jig in a canvas roll.
RM 15 per week · RM 50 refundable deposit
Rigged 6'6" medium spinning rod with a 2500 reel spooled with PE 1.2. Swim-test your new lure at a nearby pond before you commit to a trip.
RM 20 per day · RM 100 deposit
Compressor, 0.3 mm airbrush, stencils and a cleaning kit. Ideal after the Pro Finish Masterclass.
RM 35 per weekend · RM 150 deposit
Deposits are refunded in full when items come back clean and complete. Test-cast sets are for catch & release testing only, and please don't move any fish between ponds or rivers.
